My English COMPETENCE in 2015

This term I made two oral presentations, the first one about humour on YouTube and the second one abot my Research Project, leukodystrophies. The best one is the first because its in pairs and a bit funny, I did it with Edith and we made a little game with our classmates. I should upgrade my pronunciation and try to not be nervous when I speak forward class or public in general.

My English Progress from 2013-2015

It is said learning a language needs some practise... or a lot of practise! I've been studying English for more than 10 years and I'll continue for the rest of my life. My first writing of this year is an email to my teacher explaining how do I want my life to be. I made so many mistakes!! (Specially grammar ones, and I had a need of more vocabulary).

My Grammar was a bit rude and childish and I knew it, furthermore writing a post took me 2 hours, I wrote so slowly and reluctantly. Actually I can include idioms, phrasal verbs and the lovely passive voice! ;) Although, the structure of my texts and oral presentatios was fine, I started with an introduction following of the desenvolupment and next the final conclusion.

My first oral presentation was about YouTube and I made it with Edith, we had a great time together preparing it! Our oral presentations tend to be funny and we love having that click with "public", so we made a little game, we putted some photos of famous youtubers and who guessed correctly who was had a candy.

My pronunciation wasn't very well and I made some mistakes with pronouns him, his, them, their...

I hope to get better with all my skills by training and watching English series as travelling a lot around the world.

News: A new mum has given birth to twins who have different fathers. The mother admitted that she had slept with a different man of her boyfriend. Doctors carried out a paternity test what revealed that the two men are actually fathers. The judge of this case, Mohammad, said he found only two other court cases like this, it seems to occure in one of every 13000 reported paternity cases involving twins.

It seems medically impossible, but it isn't, it's named heteropaternal superfecundation, and occurs when a moman has two eggs during menstural cycle and different men impregnate one egg each.

Opinion: Poor father, what a shameful way of finding out that his girlfriend had cheated on another guy, and then she became pregnant of two!  That's such a familiar drama, the twins are twins but with different fathers, and had borned at the same time same place. For avoiding puzzling situations like these one, think it twice before having an affaire.

Hawaii Wants To Get 100% Of Its Electricity From Renewable Sources by 2045

News: Hawaii just said that by 2045 all of the state's electricity would come from renewable sources replaicing the present 22%. Hawaii expects being the model that other states or even nations follow. This state has already invested a substantial amount of money in solar energy installing panels, and now the 10% of the energy comes from the sun. Also the active volcanoes will be a source of energy.

Opinion: I love knowing that states want to improve and turn all the energy into renewable. Dependence in fuel is over there! That's not good for oil companies, but it's fine for Earth, and for eliminating pollution. I wish more nations and even countries would put in this occasion to make world a better place. The paradise idyllic island will be even more delightful in 2045.

What money can't buy

It is said money can't buy happines, but it can help to reach it. Money can not buy feelings, the human's essence and what marks our life. We act, live, move, love... because of feelings, and no one won't buy my feelings, nobody can decide what I feel.

Is it ethical to pay children to read books or to get good grades? Of course I'd like to be paid for that I'd earn money for something I love! But that is not ethical, The incentive of a good book is the pleasure to read it, make up the story, and not to earn money! If we educate children in this way they'll expect money for everything in life, for going into a museum, for listening one hour of quantum's physic...

Money won't never buy my happines, money would help me to reach it, money would pay the back to the world, money would buy the coolest dress of Abercrombie's but not the feelings and stories I'll have wearing it.

Inspite of complaining about many situations, you are not our superhero, I am going to focus on my situation. I am 18, and I should be on cloud nine, but I am not, because even finishing high school this year and starting the best part of my life in university, I might not pay my daily life out of home. Students need more grants and supports to dedicate all day to study and not all night to work.

Studing a degree is a full rime job and families should not struggle just for trying to give the best opportunities to their grown kids.

Yet, that is not all, The students that can finish their degree are forced to move away, to another country, like Germany because they can not work on what they have studied. Catalunya is educating some people, but then it loses them.

Artur Mas, I am asking you more opportunities, more scholarships or grants for us, the future of Catalunya if it finally becomes a state. Education is a Human Right and everyone should be able to afford it.

How to steal $1 billion in three days

News: 1 billion dollars disappeared from Moldovan banks over the course of three days in November 2014. The principal mastermind behind the mega fraud is Ilan Shor, who's 28-year-old. He's one of the richest people in Moldova with the wealth of his father. Moldova is one of the poorest countries in Europe, and corruption is many present. Shor has been charged with corruption and placed under house arrest, for the moment he hasn't made any comment .

Opinion: Corruption has been always present in many countries, Spain is expert in how to manage this cases, just kidding :)

Stealing 1 billion dollars in three days has reached a new level in corruption. Sir Shor is a highly qualified banker who doesn't care about poverty of the others, he only want to earn and make money.
Like all the others corrupts he will be fine in a luxury prision meanwhile someone who steals bread to eat goes to prison for two years.

Government is on the side of affluents, it doesn't care about society or worker class.

Mother's day

Today, as all the seconds Sundays in May, it's mother's day in the United States. Here in Spain we celebrate this kind of holiday the first Sunday in May. Mother's day has been created for shopping and wasting money to demostrate how much you love your mom. All children in school create lovely but useless handicrafts for them mother. Although, mothers just want to relax and even go out with some friends!!

Stop making campaign for buying the newest cologne or scarf, mothers desire a peaceful moment for themselves. The top part of making a present is the surprise of receiving it, the content doesn't matter a lot. The gesture of having a little surprise for someone you really love makes the difference.

All the same, the malls won't stop of making a beautiful and lovely day an opportunity to earn money. 

Research Shows You Should Plan Your Goals In Days Instead Of Years

News: A newly-made research by Daphna Oyserman and her team have proved that the way to make goals happen involves starting to talk about "present you" and no "future you." The participants of this study were more likely to begin to study for a test or plan a party if the deadline was presented in days, not months. If you plan goals in days or even minutes you'll keep your head focused in present and make the final result to seem more urgent.

Personal opinion: A study isn't necessary to prove we start acting if the deadline is early. I just begin to study for an exam two days before, or I do homework the day before. We tend to relax if we see goals far away althoght time never stops running down, seems it rush only for bother you. New Year resolutions never works, and that's a fact, and that's because you'll have a year to accomplish it. Delete New Year resolutions and create New Day purposes.

So, start planning your life in days or even weeks, live present intead of thinking about future.

Depression Can Actually Change What Your DNA Looks Like

News: A recent research by a team of scientists of Oxford have been discovered a gene associated with depression. Dr. Jonathan Flint's team studied thousands of Chinese women suffering from depression. Plus, comparing the DNA of these patients with the control group, the scientists noticed the depressed women had more DNA in their mitochondria, the organelle who supply energy to cells. They also found the the depressed women have shorter telomeres, the chromosomes' ending, which are associated with cells' ageing and finally organism's death. A mental illness have several responds and consequences to the hole body.

Personal opinion: I find quite interesting (and pretty funny) the relationship and connection between mental and body health. As this research had proved, depression's consequences might turn out terrible and irreversible for organism. The telomers shortening might age the hole body, and that's caused by depression! I didn't know depression had such effects. Our body is connected in a unique and amazing way, and all the little bad thinks, moods and habits may play against you.

V: No, I love it. I can't afford a life without being connected, without Wi-Fi signal. I need it, as I need breathing.

V: No, what a foolishness.
C: That's not a stupidity, honey. You're starting to worry me. I think you are suffering from nomophobia.
V: I'm not sick.
C: Yes, you are. Answer this. Do you get anxious when your battery runs out?
V: I used to do, but I bought a battery for charging it when I don't have electricity.
C: OK. I dare you to switch off your mobile phone, smart watch, computer, iPad... every night in a week.
V: I can't do it
C: Vicki, your attitude isn't healthy, you must stop this proble, you know, better late than never.
V: OK, I'll try it.

V: Yes, I know it, I usually have a headache every night when I want to sleep or when I'm at class without my mobile phone.

Weird silence about Kenya's bloodbath

A few days ago took place one of the most awful slaughter of this century in Kenya, and mysteriously no one is talking about it. I found the news on TV but after I haven't see anywhere. I'm asking why the Germanwings' plane crush is more important that this bloodbath, or why many diplomatics moved to France for expressing them condolences and respect. Even the whole Europe and the world was morning and posting photos like JE SUIS CHARLIE HEBDO.

In this case, JE NE SUIS PAS KENIA.

All the religions are being threatened by radical terrorists like jihadisms, yet, in spite of help against them, a lot of countries are almost quiet and negotiate with them trying to rescue only them citizens. Acting like this way we aren't fixing nothing, are we? The world remained appal, and so many organization were created in order to avoiding another war.

The discrimination is a fact, and this massacre or even the Ebola's forget are proving it. 13 French deats worths more than 150 Kenian deaths. Oh well, some people can say that the Charlie Hebdo's attacke was an attempt to Human Rights, so kill 150 Catholic students isn't it? For media the more isn't the merry.

Human Rights

Human rights are rights that all the humans have just for born like humans. This special type of rights "exists" since Roman period, however in 1948 they were created after the awful second World War. Now are 30 different human rights, yet I hope to create more. I just read the 30 human rights and I didn't knew that exist:

- Freedom to move: Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence, and the right to leave any country. Nowadays this right means nothing because the government want to have the control of people. For example, in spite of dropping the prices of public transportation, every year is raising it price.

- The right to your own things: Everyone has the right to own property and no one should be arbitrarily deprived of his property. I didn't know the existence of this right, some of human rights are so obvious that we don't stop to think about them.

- The right to democracy: Everyone has the right to take part into the government and to equal access to public servive. In my opinion the anchient democracies (France, UK, USA...) shall force the dictatorship states to convert into democratics ones. Totalitarian regime must be abolished to guarantee the other 29 human rights.

Iron Man with a real bionic arm

Technology is growing very fast and nowadays we can do a lot of amazing things using it. One of the most study field is medicine, where techonology is playing a fundamental role. For example blind people are starting to see colors and shapes that they haven't seen before, or people who used to go with wheelchair now are starting to walk! I found a moving video that illustrate the improvement of technology. One child receives the help of the Iron Man's actor, who gives him a very special gift, a bionic 3D printed arm without cost to the family. 

I hope to see more kind of videos like this one and that more people could be helped fighting against them disabilities. Technology will develop a lot in a few years and it would make a world without handicaps and with equal chances for everybody.

News: A team of scientists have invented anti-ageing chocolate. This fantastic kind of sweet keep away wrinkles and the skin looking younger. Its name will be "Esthechoc" (esthetic plus chocolate) but it's also called Cambridge Beauty Chocolate. This chocolate will be on the market the next mont, but it seems to be pretty expensive. The laboratory used a special chemical (antioxidant) in the chocolate which can bring parts of the skin of a 50 years old person back to 20 years old. Just in three weeks people will see the changes on the skin.

Personal opinion: I love to know about this amazing kind of chocolate! I'll be protecting and making my skin look younger while I'm eating my favourite sweet. The scientists should research more because our body will notice about the chocolate eaten each day. To sum up, I love this new invention and I can't wait to try it. The next research might be about chocolate without calories!

Our society needs a change now. As I said before the world lacks heros, but all of us can and must fix it. Richers are earning more money making the poor poorer.

Enormous Ocean Discovered On Jupiter's Moon

News: A planet with life might exist, that's the Jupiter's moon Ganymede. The Hubble Space Telescope saw an ocean (formed by saltwater) underneath the surface of Ganymede. Plus, believe that life on this moon is feasible is that it has its own magnetic field with gravity. The magnetic field cause auroras (like the Earth ones), and studying this kind of event you can know something about the magnetic field and the moon's inside. Ganymede's ocean is estimated to be 10 times deeper than our oceans.

Personal opinion: I agree with the idea of life on another planet because we are so egocentric and we use to think that the Earth is the only planet with life, and that's nonsense. We aren't alone in the universe, and that's clear. I might be afraid of meeting some bad ET or another evil civilisation like scifi movies' plot. On another hand meeting another type of life may help us and we help them on a lot of things like health or the resolution of many conflicts.

Frozen 2

News: After the success of Frozen, Disney announced that will produce Frozen 2 in a few years. The children will have "let it go" for a long time! The announcement was made by Josh Gad (Olaf) and Kristen Bell also shared the news on Twitter.

Personal opinion: I have seen Frozen twice and I love this film. Frozen might be a childish movie but it has a catchy soundtrack behind the scenes, like Let it Go and all the songs of Olaf or the others characters. I find the plot a bit nonsense and extravagant but it doesn't matters, it has a lot more of pros than cons. For example who in this crazy world would marry someone that has known only for a few hours? And for sure, this soul mate later became the worst prince. I love this news of making a sequel of Frozen, but the parents of children might curse Frozen (for the memorable songs).

Is Internet making the world a better place?

Internet is now a net which involves all the developed world. The third world doesn't have this electronic access as they don't have water or light service. Instead of unify the society Internet is now enlarging the differences between continents. Yet, new generous platforms and campains like Change.org are appearing and the ONGs have more facilities to raise money. So kind people currently have more opportunities to help the others.In second place I would like to stand out that Internet is creating a new type of dependencies, addictions and psychological diseases. New generations are growing up, the Robot-People (no real life-no real friends). They don't shake hands as they don't leave the house, the webcam is their eyes and the mouse their hands. Their life is on a piece of metal called computer!

Furthermore, as Internet is a huge source of information it contains harmful pages, like terrorism's marketing or eating disorders tips. Yes, the society is progressing but it's clear we have a need of control. The lack of regulation create strong dependencies and a virtual world that could be more real than the reality. Maybe one solution which will teach responsability is that every Internet user must pass an exam to have Internet access on his home, like the theoretical exam of the drive license.

On the other hand Internet gives a lot of possibilities, like guitar tutorials on YouTube or Deutsch grammar exercises on Duolingo. Also, Internet improve the communication between the members of healthy relationships, the selfish and possessive ones at the end break up (because the lovers are exposed to the lack of privacy). So now, in my opinion we have more cute and moral relationships.

Furthermore, Internet is changing the Earth paradigm, we used to read books, to watch the movies on the cinema, to go to the library to look up on the encyclopaedias, to send letters and the old-fashioned sent telegram! Now we can do all this on the computer, or on the cooler smartphones.

To sum up, Internet have positive and negative objections on a lot of themes, but yes, Internet is making the world a better place.

The cold help lose weight

News: Researchers of the University of California proved that the cold could help us los weight, because of the increase of the protein's levels that burns energy and keeps us warm and thiner. There are two kinds of fat, the brown one and the white fat. The brown fat help us to lose weight and dominate on the cold places.

Personal opinion: It is said that thinner is more pretty. Our society is changing constantly the rules and styles and for looking good and being accepted all of us must follow it and change too. I not agree with that because being like the crowd doesn't help you, only make your behaviour and appearance worse. Suffer for being thinner is nonsense, if you want to be thinner and good-looking do sport and eat healthy.
